Me and Mine – May 2015

Wow another month has gone by – and quite a special one too. This is the month when my baby boy turned 3 (wah!), as well as it being one year living in our new home. It’s incredible how much Tyler has grown in the last 3 years, into this funny boy obsessed with trains and with a cheeky personality! Of course, it being his birthday, we had plenty of photos of the 3 of us. Here’s the only one where most of us are looking at the camera – Tyler was distracted by his cake!

Me and Mine May 2015

The first half of May was taken up with planning for the birthday and his party, and decluttering the flat in preparation. On his actual birthday, which was on a Friday, we cut the cake (photo above) and then set off to Bekonscot Model Village with my sister. Where else could a train-obsessed boy go on his birthday! We had a party at our apartment on the Sunday with our close friends and family, and it was a really fun afternoon.

After the birthday week, it was my mum’s birthday. Then my husband caught the flu one week, and then the next week Tyler caught it, so there have been a lot of indoor days, and playing with all the new toys Tyler got for his birthday. One present from his daddy was a Bouncy Castle for one! We inflated it at my mother-in-law’s (when she was hacking at the grass with a cutlass – yes really :-P) – anyway he LOVED it! Unfortunately it really is for one, I sat on it and it sank!

Oh yes I did have one crazy night out – the day before Tyler’s birthday, I went to a Hoobastank, Alien Ant Farm and P.O.D. gig with my siblings at Koko in Camden. It was amazing, although we were all showing our age, with having to stand for 4 hours, everyone in the crowd had achy knees and feet. Still it was great to relive my early twenties!

My sister spent a lot of time at our apartment this month. She’s had a month of interviews, and finally starts an internship at Warner in June – very exciting. It’s been nice for Tyler spending all this time with his aunty, he’s got super attached to her. We’ve been out shopping, going to softplay, taking a train-trip to Windsor and just chilling at home. I’ve really enjoyed having girly company and an extra pair of hands looking after the boy. Back to normal next month!

Last weekend was the Bank Holiday, and we had a day out in London supporting my siblings who ran the Bupa 10k, raising funds for Parkinson’s UK, followed by a celebratory lunch at Strada in Marylebone High Street. We then had a nice leisurely stoll back to Paddington Station.

This week I enrolled Tyler in a new nursery for September, as his current pre-school is closing down! On Thursday we went Late Night Shopping, which crazily helped his bedtime routine! We also bought a ‘Two Together’ railcard, so we can save 30% on train fares for our train adventures this summer. Yesterday we went to Oxford for lunch and lots of wandering around. We were shattered when we got home, which meant another good night’s sleep! Looking forward to June’s adventures now!
