Toddler Trips #10 – Torquay

This week I’ll tell you about our daytrip to Torquay in Devon. We were on a holiday in Paignton last September, and jumped on a bus to the neighbouring town.toddlertrips-torquay

It was a beautiful sunny day, and we got off the bus which dropped us in the town centre and had some lunch at Shiraz – ordering fish and chips of course. It had outdoor seating which overlooked the harbour. It was so pretty to look at, so many boats. This is a photo of the harbour I took when on the English Riviera Wheel.

And that is the next thing we did, go on the English Riviera Wheel – Torquay’s answer to the London Eye. Tickets cost £6 per adult, and it went round 3 times. We saw awesome views from our pod and Tyler really enjoyed it.

After that we went to the beach which was round the corner – Torre Abbey Sands. Like the name suggests, it’s a sandy beach and it is beautiful!

It was a Monday afternoon so we pretty much had it to ourselves, apart from the odd mum and kid. I imagine it would be packed in holiday season, so we really appreciated it. And as we were at the seaside, we HAD to buy ice cream!

We bought a towel from a shop at the top of the beach to brush all the sand off afterwards. Then we headed into the town centre to take a photo of the old Woolworths building for my Woolies blog, and to buy some ready meals from Tesco Extra before jumping on a bus back to our Paignton holiday home.

A good day out all in all. There is loads more to do in Torquay, but really we just wanted to go to the beach 🙂

    • Thank you. I love Torquay, just to admire those red cliffs they have there, it’s so pretty. And you can’t beat ice cream at the beach 😉 x

  2. Oh how lovely that you got it all pretty much to yourselves… it looks so lovely. I haven’t been to Torquay since I was a youngster myself, but I know we’d love it here – fish & chips, ice-cream and ths sand between my toes… what more could you ask for? Thanks for sharing your trip on #MondayEscapes

    • Yes we loved having it to ourselves! Monday afternoons in September – that’s my top tip haha. And yeah you would love it there, I don’t think it would have changed that much since you were little – just a proper english seaside! xx
