HomeSense Taplow – New Store Sneak Preview

So you know last week I wrote about HomeSense coming to Taplow, well on Wednesday evening I was invited to a sneak preview of the store. I was really excited, as I’d never been to a HomeSense store before.

HomeSense Taplow, Maidenhead, Slough

The store was officially open to the public on the Thursday, so when I got there, the windows were covered up and the doors were shut. I was like, eek, how do I get in? I phoned my PR contact’s mobile and then the doors magically opened! They greeted me with drinks and nibbles, while I was kind of awestruck by the store – it’s massive! A real treasure trove of home stuff – quirky furniture, chairs, mirrors, wall decor, clocks – and that was just downstairs. There’s an upstairs too with the children’s, kitchen, dining and bedroom departments.

This post is going to be loads of photos, as I just liked EVERYTHING and couldn’t narrow it down! Shall we call it my grand tour of HomeSense Taplow, hey? 🙂 I’ll start off with the kid’s furniture upstairs. I fell in love with these velvet Chesterfield sofas for children – so so cute. From what I remember, the 2-seater was around £200, and the single armchairs £70.

And now for some grown-up furniture, this blue chest of drawers is gorgeous.

I thought the chair below was quite unique, almost like a chair you see at the dentist’s.

This fox cushion at £24.99 – I love!

Here’s the whole display, that warm, rustic look. Definitely makes me think of autumn.

Oh I must tell you about the mirrors! They had HUGE ornate mirrors, you know the sort you normally see for around £200 – well here the most expensive mirror was £69.99 – bargain! I am definitely considering one of these, as mirrors are great way to bring light into a room and make it seem bigger.

These letter shelves are so cool. They had a great range of different styled letters if you wanted to spell out something on your wall.

I love unique coat rack hooks, and there was so many to choose from!

More cool wall decor, I particularly like this ‘Exit’ sign. Would look cool in the corridor pointing to the front door!

Some more great wall storage, I think is perfect for a hallway, with the mirror to brighten and enlarge the corridor and little drawers for keys and nik naks.

Wall storage shaped as a whale!

Clocks galore! This is seriously the coolest wall display I’ve seen in a shop!

I’ve got a thing for furniture with wooden legs like this, gives it a vintage look.

Metallic furniture seems to be making it’s way into the mainstream, it’s quite masculine so I can see this in a teen boy’s bedroom.

This clock shaped as a watch is an oversized one. I love giant clocks, especially with my bad eyesight, to be able to read the time without squinting gets a thumbs up from me!

This unique bench caught my eye! It looks like an upcycled piece of furniture, really different from the norm.

For the crafty readers out there, they have a crafts section, with sewing boxes, ribbons, storage boxes, art materials, notebooks. I was in this aisle for a while.

Canvas art – there was a great selection, and they’ve gone for a vintage/retro look with the pieces they’ve chosen. If you’re into Marvel Superheroes, you’ll like this section.

This was my favourite piece from their canvases – maybe Tyler’s train obsession is rubbing off on me!

So that is my tour of the store for you – now can you see why I was excited?! And I did buy something that day, well some very useful things, but I’ll share that with you another day.

What do you think? What’s your favourite piece from my photos?

  4. Ah a shame this place is in the UK. But then again maybe it’s a good think that is isn’t near me. Loving the amount of lovely stuff you can get there. I would be poor after it. I am trying to redecorate our house now that we are not moving house and I would certainly find a lot there to add.
