I’d been looking for a while for a stylish coat rack that I could put in Tyler’s bedroom at his height, so that he could hang up his coat and scarf by himself. The idea came to me when we were visiting schools at the end of last year, and I saw coat racks at a low level for the school-children.
I wanted something to match his seaside-style room, with about 3 hooks – one for his bag, his spring coat and his winter coat. After much searching I found this wooden one in HomeSense for £7.99. I love the grain showing on the wood, it looks very coastal to me. I’m going to get some rubber to put on the ends of the hooks so they’re not so pointy, but apart from that, I really like how it looks.
I put it up at the front of Tyler’s room by his door, which is just off the hallway, so it’s there to hang his coat up as soon as we get inside.
It give Tyler a sense of independence being able to hang his coat up. He’s been putting his shoes away himself for months now, and now that he can reach the coat rack, he’s really happy.
The bag is for when we visit Nana’s house, he usually puts some trains and a book in there, and loves to wear the backpack on his back. My boy growing up!
Hanging a coat rack up at child-height is such a simple thing to do, and yet I feel it has really improved the time it takes in getting ready to go out and when we come back in, as Tyler looks forward to getting his coat and shoes himself. I totally recommend doing it!

That is lovely, we now have a low level coat hook for the kids in our cloakroom, which is really handy now they have a space to put everything away themselves. #HomeEtc

What a lovely coat rack! We did similar in our hallway for our 3 and 4 year old, and they love being able to hang their coats up on their own 🙂

That is so fabulous!!! What a bargain! We’ve got some low-level hanging for the boys in their room but they tend to take everything *off* the hooks, rather than put things on!!
