Spring Trends 2016 with HomeSense

I find March is always a great time of year. We’ve got past the really cold winter months, the daffodils have sprung up and the days are getting brighter and longer. How nice is it to have sunlight at 6pm?! I also like this time of year as you see all the new trends popping up on the high street, be it for interiors or fashion.

I was lucky enough to have a peak at the HomeSense Spring Lookbook last week, and there are some gorgeous, eclectic trends coming up – Aquatic Life, Combining Cobalt, Eastern Treasure, Swept Away, Easter Creatures and Secret Garden. It’s good inspiration if you want to give your home a little update without having to change your whole room, so I thought I’d share them with you.

Aquatic Life

Now, you all know I’m a big fan of the nautical look, and anything to do with the seaside. This trend is a nod to that, by adding subtle accessories into your home. You can see below how the furnishing is not the usual obvious seaside style, but still quite nautical in the colour and the materials used. Look at the crab print on the wall, very stylish.

HomeSense stylist Joanna Thornhill says,

“Give just a nod to the nautical look by simply adding the odd element, incorporating pieces which are slightly less obviously themed. Touches such as rope details and industrial-looking furniture allude to life on a submarine”

Combining Cobalt

I love all the intense shades of blue used in this look. It would be easy to add some colour to your home with these accessories, and it does look rather sophisticated. I particularly like the art on the wall, and the little blue and white table.

I have another top tip from HomeSense’s Joanna, who says,

“We looked at blues across the spectrum and were drawn to dark, inky hues, balancing them with pale neutrals. Don’t worry about mismatched tones; you can create a strong look with a broad mix of shades and add more depth and interest to your scheme”

Eastern Treasure

This look reminds me of Morocco with the intricate patterns and hand-painted pieces.

Swept Away

Laundry and cleaning doesn’t have to be boring – think fluffy towels and stylish storage here. I NEED that basket on wheels for pushing my laundry about, and the black and white polka dot tea-towel – how cute!

Easter Creatures

With Easter coming up in just a few weeks, there’s lots of pretty crockery for setting the table. And the big trend this year is hanging decs. You heard it here first 😉

Secret Garden

If I had a conservatory I would so decorate it like this. Having somewhere to relax, bringing the outdoors inside – which you need with our British weather. And I’ve learnt something new, I didn’t even know HomeSense sold gardening tools – so now you know!

So there’s some home inspiration for you, I’ll definitely be popping instore to find some new treasures. Which trend do you like best?

  1. Goodness, it’s hard to choose which I like best. I love the nautical and the secret garden and would probably use either theme in my home #homeetc

  3. Oh I love these looks. I love colour, but I sometimes struggle with the colours you’ve shown above, but only because I’m too scared to paint a whole wall blue for example. So instead, I have always had the blank canvas type of house, with the odd splashes of colour here and there. Hopefully this will give me a bit of a kick in the right direction though. Lovely post. • Oh I’m totally the same as you, I have white walls as a blank canvas. I have bright accessories and colourful furniture instead, which is why I love the blue trend in particular, those cushions would really brighten up a front room! xx
