Our Top 20 Seaside Holidays in the UK | #Blogtober17 Day 8

I have always had a thing about the English seaside, I just love it, the sound of the sea, the scent of fish and chips, arcades at piers and 2p machines, deck chairs, building sandcastle, the feeling of sand underneath your feet, eating ice cream. I know most people like to go abroad, but I love the familiarity of home, being able to travel by train, not having to worry about language barriers. Yep the English seaside is for me (oh alright, the Welsh seaside too ;-)), and we have been to many over the years.

Here are our Top 20, and there are links to where I have written more about them. I seem to have lost our Norfolk photos, but once I find them, I will add them in.

  1. I’ve been to a few of these places. I love Norfolk and Suffolk but it is a long way from here. The best beach near here is Llangenith, on a sunny day it could be a tropical island or in the Mediterannean, The sea is blue, the sand soft and the waves perfect

  2. It’s crazy that i’ve been to so few of these! Grew up spending summers at Brighton, Newhaven and Seaford beaches though! #blogtober17

  3. I can’t believe I’ve only ever been to one of the places on your list – Great Yarmouth.
We tend to spend most of our time on the east coast in Yorkshire so Filey, Whitby and Scarborough tend to be our regular haunts.

  4. Hunstanton is our closest beach and I went there loads as a child but I think it’s lost it’s magic now. Doesn’t seem a whole lot to do anymore. I’d love to go to Cornwall and Dorset I think

  5. I grew up in Blackpool (and still live nearby) and I think it’s put me off UK seaside holidays! I’ve never really explored the south coast though – I bet it’s a bit nicer than Blackpool!
