I want to get back into blogging on this website again, so starting off with this beautiful day out we had on Sunday 1st October 2023. Travelling back in time on classic buses, thanks to the Amersham & District Motorbus Society.
We rode classic buses all day. There is no charge to ride – you pay £9 for a programme that lists all the bus times and routes, so you can plan your day.
There are feeder buses from surrounding towns bringing people to the event. We got the 9.38am 353 bus from Slough.

The bus went through Gerrards Cross, Chalfont St Peters, Amersham before arriving at Chesham. It is buzzing in Chesham on classic bus day, full of people and vintage buses.

After a hot drink stop-off in Caffè Nero, we got on the 353 to Berkhamstead. We wanted to travel somewhere we’d never been before. The bus stopped outside the train station.

Here we walked over the bridge to get to the other side of the canal where there is a playground. It’s lovely because kids can see the trains whizz by as they are playing.

After a little walk through the Sunday antiques market, we got meal deals from Tesco and got a bus back to Chesham. Ate lunch on a bench and then got more buses.
We did Hyde End, Asheridge and Chenies. This was the best photo spot, by a classic request stop.

The bus rides are bumpy, like being rocked to sleep all day! Lily got a bit frustrated and was like “the next bus we are getting is back to Slough!” while her brother was eagerly perusing the programme.

We all did enjoy it, she was fine once we went to the next town!

We stayed until 4.30pm when we got the 353 back to Slough.
If you’d like to come to the next event, follow Amersham & District Motorbus Society on Facebook to be the first to hear of them.
PS The classic buses live at the London Bus Museum in Weybridge – see if you can spot any of the buses in our post from 2019!
