A Stylish Budget Valentines

Valentines with a 9-month-old baby was quite fun a couple of years ago. I dressed him in one of his red hoodies and we set to decorating our little basement flat. When I say we, I mean me, and the boy crawling around my feet. With a budget of £5, I got 5 things from Poundland for decorating – a heart garland, love fridge magnets, valentines crackers, heart sticks and the fifth thing I can’t remember for the life of me! Here is that captured moment…

Anyway the table was decorated, and when hubby came home from work, we put the boy to bed at 7ish and then had our Valentines ‘Dine in for 2’ from M&S around my decorated table. It was a really good night, I actually felt like we had gone out!

This year the range at Poundland is quite tasteless, so I’m giving that a miss. We’ve decided on a budget Valentines Day, with handmade cards and decorations. We’ll probably cook something and put it in a heart shape on the plate 😛

Here’s what I found in red and pink shades around the house – tissue paper, spare wrapping paper, buttons, ribbon and embroidery thread. Any ideas what to do with them?

  1. I love this idea – valentines day is all about the love and there is nothing more loving than spending time making things. You could cut hearts out of the tissue paper and wrapping paper and stick them together round the house. Or you could cut out the letters L O V E from the tissue paper and then hearts out of the wrapping paper and make a little bunting using the thread? I’m stuck with the buttons!! Thanks so much for linking up with #twinklytuesday and for the lovely thank you comment, you are so welcome 🙂 – I hope you have a wonderful valentines day.

  2. That’s right, all about love. Thanks for the ideas, we haven’t got around to crafting yet. My boy and I will probably spent Valentines Day making decorations whilst the husband is at football! Ahh the romance 😉 Have a great V-Day too x

  3. Oh and he’s the cutest little Valentine ever! Sounds like the perfect at home date night, which has also been our Valentine’s Day ritual since our girls came along. I don’t mind though, who wants to be out with hundreds of other couples when you can be home alone! ; )

Thanks so much for joining in xxx
