THIS COMPETITION HAS CLOSED. THE WINNER IS TRACEY PEACH FROM CAMBRIDGESHIRE. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ENTERED AND YOUR GREAT DECLUTTERING TIPS!
Earlier this month I told you all about HomeSense opening their fab new branch in Taplow. Well to celebrate, I have teamed up with HomeSense to offer you lucky readers the chance to win a £100 HomeSense gift card! (UK residents only)
If you’re unaware of who HomeSense are, where have you been?! 😉 They are the sister brand of TK Maxx, selling the most coolest, quirkiest homewares and gifts. They also sell practical stuff too. On the HomeSense launch day I got these drawer organisers and glass jars, with the aim to do a spot of decluttering.
I was fed up of packets of pasta cluttering up my kitchen cupboard, the packets never resealed properly and I was always finding rogue pastas at the back. And as for my kitchen drawers, I couldn’t even see what was in there!
BEFORE:
So I cleared a shelf on my bookshelf to make a display of pasta jars, and sorted out that kitchen drawer!
AFTER:
It’s so much easier to find things now, it makes me so happy!
So, now for the bit you’ve been waiting for – how do you enter the competition? Well, I want you to tell me your best decluttering tip! Think of one, and click here to enter via Rafflecopter:
You have until close of play Friday 20th November to enter. Good luck!

follow the 1 year rule. If it’s not been touched for 1 year – it’s for the chop. Good stuff, sell. Ok stuff, charity shop. Rubbish, bin.
Very effective system for clothes. It also makes you dig into the wardrobe for the forgotten gems, so they don’t get the chop.

If you’ve not used it or thought about it in the last 12 months, then time to clear it out! Mainly applies to clothes with me!

When it comes to clothes, if you haven’t worn something for a year you probably won’t wear it again so give it to charity

You just have to be really ruthless. Do you really need to keep every piece of artwork your kids have brought home from school? Are you keeping clothes because you keep meaning to lose enough weight to wear them again? If you want to keep mementos then pick a few really nice ones, and bin the rest. If clothes don’t fit anymore, give yourself a deadline and if you’ve not lost the weight by then, give the clothes to charity.

Make a list of all the places that need a clear out and declutter them one space at a time over a week/month etc. – it won’t seem as big a job!

Before you start make sure you have designated bags for what you need to do with the items or which rooms they belong in eg. bin, charity shop, car boot, move to bedroom/living room/kitchen etc. otherwise things just get shoved to one side to deal with later – creating more clutter! Work one room at a time so that you can really see the progress, it will help so much with motivation & play music whilst you work so it doesn’t seem like such a chore!
