THIS COMPETITION HAS CLOSED. THE WINNER IS TRACEY PEACH FROM CAMBRIDGESHIRE. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ENTERED AND YOUR GREAT DECLUTTERING TIPS!
Earlier this month I told you all about HomeSense opening their fab new branch in Taplow. Well to celebrate, I have teamed up with HomeSense to offer you lucky readers the chance to win a £100 HomeSense gift card! (UK residents only)
If you’re unaware of who HomeSense are, where have you been?! 😉 They are the sister brand of TK Maxx, selling the most coolest, quirkiest homewares and gifts. They also sell practical stuff too. On the HomeSense launch day I got these drawer organisers and glass jars, with the aim to do a spot of decluttering.
I was fed up of packets of pasta cluttering up my kitchen cupboard, the packets never resealed properly and I was always finding rogue pastas at the back. And as for my kitchen drawers, I couldn’t even see what was in there!
BEFORE:

So I cleared a shelf on my bookshelf to make a display of pasta jars, and sorted out that kitchen drawer!
AFTER:

It’s so much easier to find things now, it makes me so happy!
So, now for the bit you’ve been waiting for – how do you enter the competition? Well, I want you to tell me your best decluttering tip! Think of one, and click here to enter via Rafflecopter:
You have until close of play Friday 20th November to enter. Good luck!

Mine is to keep everything in boxes! Even if it isn’t too organised, it will look it, it’s less clutter and is easy to pick up to clean under it! 🙂

If space is tight and your cupboards are so jam-packed that you can’t really see what’s in there, get creative with your storage space. I keep rarely used things like Christmas decorations in shallow plastic lidded boxes behind my kitchen plinths, and rarely used tools under the bath.

My decluttering tip is to do an ‘8 is great! Rather than attempt to sort a whole room at once which seems overwhelming and might make you give up before you start, just make yourself chuck or sort 8 things. It’s manageable, positive and often when they’re done you get a buzz that drives you to do another – you may just end up decluttering the whole room without even trying!

My kitchen drawers are full of screws, elastic and string etc. which were always becoming tangled. I purchased some of the cheap rectangular plastic containers, placing them in the drawer. Now everything has its place and nothing becomes tangled.

Try to keep belongings at a minimum, keep only what you need. That way it takes less time to clear & clean and you will have more money to go on trips and experience new things. When you are sitting in a nursing home you will remember fabulous sunsets with loved ones not DVDs and the like….

We use stackable storage boxes, they can fit easily in small areas and stack several high, or can be stored in the attic. Also any clothes, bedding or soft toys can be vacuum packed and stored away.

Do it one room at a time, or if it’s bad, one corner at a time! If you look at it as a whole it will always look to big to handle, whereas it’s manageable in pieces xx
