Bekonscot Model Village – then and now!

Today I have 3 Captured Moments from Bekonscot Model Village in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. If you haven’t been, you must go! It’s amazing, a literal miniature village with model trains running throughout – boys love it. There’s also a children’s playground, a cafe for lunch, an outside picnic area and a Light Railway that you can actually ride on. The day costs £9.80 for adult entry, £5.80 for a child and under 2s are free, but I used £2.50 of my Tesco Clubcard Vouchers to get in for free – pretty good!

This photo is from 1996 when my parents took us. This is my dad, sister, brother and cousin – all dressed very nineties 😛

This photo is in the same location nearly 20 years later when we took my boy for the first time. It was the week before his 2nd birthday and he LOVED it. It was a weekend, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves (how I like it!). I think they have a landscape gardener now, the greenery is a lot neater!

And the final photo is from 2 weeks ago, just me and the boy. He honestly did not want to leave, he could have watched those trains ALL day – I had to drag him home crying!

I think this is going to be an annual tradition to take him before his birthday. Tomorrow my baby turns 3 – can you believe it?! They grow up way too fast.

If you want to see what it’s like, have a watch of my mini-vlog to give you an idea:

  3. What a lovely tradition! I love taking my kids back to places I visited as a child. You get to relive it all again through the eyes of your children, there really isn’t anything more special. Is it me or does this place seem so much busier back in the 90s? (he he he!) Thanks so much for linking up to My Captured Moment xxx

    • Yes I love going back, it’s like being a kid again. That 90s photo was on a weekend, and it is still crazy busy today on the weekends. I always take Tyler on a weekday so we have it all to ourselves! xx
