“You are the god gifted sunshine of the day and of my life. Love and best wishes for ever”
Remember that post I wrote a couple of weeks ago for Parkinson’s Awareness Week, about my boy making my dad smile – well after reading this message in my boy’s birthday card, I guess I really was right about my dad enjoying Tyler’s company! (And don’t worry about his writing, Dad’s writing has always been terrible – even before he had Parkinson’s. He was a GP, so try reading his prescriptions :-P)
My theory is… to help a family member who may have Parkinson’s, have a kid. Seriously, it will cheer them up so much! Obviously, this is not the best reason to have a child haha. Soooo, howabout some fundraising for Parkinson’s UK instead?
This is exactly what my brother and sister are doing – they are representing Team Dr. Ali and running the Bupa 10k next week on Monday 25th May. Team Dr Ali was a much bigger team in previous years, and we had done walks – which is perfectly ok with me – even Tyler joined in last year. But for me, putting ‘running’ and ’10k’ in the same sentence – er NO. I can’t even run 10 metres without being out of breath. Ugh.
So big props to my crazy siblings for putting themselves through a 10K RUN, all to raise money for Parkinson’s UK. The fact is that this charity funds cutting-edge research for a cure, they fund nurses and look for ways to improve the life of Parkinson’s sufferers – it’s a great cause.
We’ll be supporting from the sidelines, cheering them on. I’ll be donating too – there’s still a week to go. If you would like to support them, please visit their JustGiving page here where you can read more about the story and sponsor them if you wish.

What a beautiful message, just gorgeous. And lovely to see how much joy Tyler is to his grandfather. My grandfather died recently and he had a form of dementia too but his great-grandchildren bought him so much pleasure, even when he was really ill in hospital, the photos of them would somehow spark his memory. Hope the run goes well for your siblings. #mmwbh
