When we woke up yesterday morning, I could not believe how grey it was outside – where has summer gone? So it looked as though it was going to be an indoors day. Stumped on what to do, we headed into town to buy some ingredients to make our own pizza. And Tyler really got into it – we have a mini chef in the making here!
We used a supermarket own-brand pizza kit that came with flour dough, tomato base and oregano. We added water and olive oil to the flour and mixed with a fork. Then we kneaded it and rolled into 2 circles. For the tomato base, I wanted a barbeque flavoured one, so we added our stash of bbq sauces to the mix.
I did the next bit, as Paw Patrol came on the telly, and the boy got a bit distracted! I put the base onto the oven tray, and spread the sauce. Then I added toppings of cooked mushrooms, olives, tinned sweetcorn, pre-cooked bbq chicken and cheese. (Top tip – alway used cooked mushrooms, if you use raw mushrooms, they are full of water so will make the pizza soggy)
I popped them into the pre-heated oven at 210C (fan-oven) for 15 minutes. And voila! They were deeelicious, and the boy ate them happily (well I had to pick the mushrooms off 😛 ) Hooray!
I’d never really got Tyler involved in cooking before, but after seeing how much he enjoyed it, and how proud he was that he made it, I will definitely include him whenever I cook from now on!

This is TOTALLY what I need to start doing with the twins! I’ve just commented on another ‘cooking with kids’ post and I mentioned that the reason I never do it is cos Bertie is allergic to egg. PIZZA though… NO EGG!! Hurrah! I’m on the case 😉 Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday — hope to see you again next week! x

It was really fun, I’d never done it before because of the mess, but it wasn’t that bad. It must be tricky finding no egg recipes, but yeah none on pizza – hurrah! xx

The pizza looks delicious! Ha ha, my boy is the same although it’s always the onions I have to remove for him. Lovely that he enjoyed making it, it’s so much fun to involve them in making food. 🙂 x

Oh it was! Oh so weird, my boy likes onions – we discovered that last week with he ate a red onion slicing without batting an eyelid! Think we’re going to make something else today, it’s raining again – boo! xx
