The (Not Big or Fat) Quiz of the Year

Thank you to Elaine from Entertaining Elliot and Kayley from Friendly First Foods for tagging me to do the (Not Big or Fat) Quiz of the Year for 2016!

What was your highlight of 2016?

Giving birth to my gorgeous baby girl Lily of course!

Name one thing you are likely to remember about 2016  if asked in 5 years time

I’m guessing this question is about non-personal things, because obviously I will remember that Lily was born this year. So many things happened in the world in 2016, I guess the first thing I think of is that lots of famous people passed away.

Sum up 2016 in one word

Anticipation. I spent half the year counting down the days to June when I could finally meet Lily. Then when she was here, I found myself saying I can’t wait for 6 weeks when it will get easier, then I can’t wait for 12 weeks when it will get easier (again!), then I can’t wait for 5 months when she can sit up, then I can’t wait for 6 months when she can eat – all in the hope she would cry less and sleep better at night!

Name one pearl of wisdom that you will carry through to 2017.

Don’t judge anything by it’s first impression, always give it a second chance. This applies to baby groups, meeting new people, making new parent friends, people’s cultures and traditions, anything!

Do you have any New Years resolutions?

Nah, I never stick to them so I haven’t made any this year. I’m going to carry on having fun with my kids and my husband, and seeing my family lots. I would like to see friends and cousins more this year, and now that Lily is older, I feel we can travel further now without me freaking out!

How did you see in the New Year?

The kiddos were asleep at 9pm and I had a nap with them until 10.30pm so that I would be able to stay awake for the countdown. Then my husband and I watched Harry Potter and I Whatsapped family and cousins with what they were doing at 11pm. It was really exciting like we were all virtually together! Then we watched that Jools show. Lily and Tyler started crying with 20 seconds to go until midnight, so we frantically were soothing them, finding dummies. Then with 10 seconds to go, we made it back to the living room for the countdown! At midnight, fireworks went off all around us, as everyone in Slough had their on mini displays. It looked beautiful from high up in our apartment – who needs London?!

What would you most like to do in 2017?

I would like to earn some money from my blog, so I don’t feel so guilty buying all those baby clothes hehe. I’d like to attend a blogging conference for the first time. But I would most like to have a seaside holiday with Lily for the first time (and Tyler and the hubby of course) – that is what I am most looking forward to, the first time she has her feet in the sand.
