I like to try new activities with Lily, so the other week I decided to drive from Slough to neighbouring Burnham. It’s a short distance away, taking about 15 minutes to drive there after dropping Tyler at school. There is a soft play that runs every Monday and Thursday morning at Burnham Park Hall (term-time only).
Burnham Park Hall is in Burnham Village, which is in between Burnham and Taplow. It’s quite a modern looking building next to a park, with its own car park that has 2 hours free parking.
The soft play is run by Big On Bouncing and basically they set up bouncy castles and ball pits, ride ons etc in the hall. I paid £2.50 for an hour and a half’s play. The equipment was really clean and new looking, which made it really inviting, lots of bright colours.
They run two sessions – the first from 9.30 – 11am, and the second from 11.15am – 12.45pm, on Mondays and Thursdays. We visited on a Thursday at 9.30am. I can tell you that Lily LOVED it. There are chairs set up around the room for parents to sit on. You are allowed to bring food/drink in the room, but not let your children eat or drink on the inflatables.
The room quickly filled up, there were about 15-20 toddlers, mostly really young ones that were only just toddling (sweet!). Lots of mums came in groups, so it seems like this is a good meeting place to catch up with friends. There was a lovely casual feel, some parents sitting on the soft mats with their little ones.
The toddlers loved these soft ride-ons, Lily made quite a few friends on these, it was really cute, and so many to choose from.
There is an area outside of the room where you can buy refreshments. I think it was £1.50 for a coffee and £1.25 for a Fruit Shoot. The coffee came in a takeaway cup that I could refill for free if I wanted (though one cup was enough for me!). The loos and baby change were out here too.
Lily also made friends whilst balancing these balls on the air holes. The toddlers found this fascinating.
When it came to home time, Lily did not want to leave, she was having such a good time. I got her out somehow though! I am really impressed with this soft play, and that it costs only £2.50. Usual soft-play centres can feel a bit hectic and stressful, but this one felt relaxing. I think the fact that it is in a light and airy room helps. The guy that runs the session was very friendly too.
