Seeing as we are going to have to stay local for the time being, these are some cool playgrounds around Slough and the surrounding Berkshire area. Have a look and see if there’s one you haven’t tried with your kids.

This post is written in no particular order. All the playgrounds included are good-sized, pretty cool ones, and are either in Slough or a short driving distance from Slough. There are smaller ones dotted around the borough that you will know about if you live near them. I will add to this post if we do discover any more cool playgrounds.
Upton Court Park Playground
Upton Rd, Slough SL3 7LU
Brand new playground that opened summer 2020. It’s at the far left corner of the park, about a 10 min walk from the free car park (longer with children) but it’s worth it! Click here for more pictures

Eton Playground
South Meadow Lane, Windsor SL4 6ES
Small quiet playground in a beautiful location, views of Windsor Castle and the train whizzing by. Free on street parking on South Meadow Lane.

Gerrards Cross Common Playground
East Common, Gerrards Cross SL9 7QW
My kids love the playground and outdoor gym at this common. The playground is right by the woods. It’s lovely to be in open woodlands without having to trek to a country park. Free 1 hour on street parking on East Common.

Salt Hill Park Playground
Bath Road, Slough SL1 3SS (opposite Salt Hill Activity Centre)
Lottery funded playground, it is one of Slough’s nicer ones. Free parking at the activity centre although currently this is closed to the public as it’s a vaccination site. Nearest free 1 hour parking is on Ellis Avenue. Click here for more photos

Clewer Memorial Ground Sandpit Playground
Dedworth Rd, Windsor SL4 5BD
Known as pirate park, this is an awesome sandpit playground. You can pretend you’re at the beach here. Free on site car park and a cafe.

Batchelors Acre Playground
Batchelors Acre, Windsor SL4 1ER
Lovely playground in the heart of Windsor, just behind the shops (near the back entrance of TK Maxx) No free parking. You’d have to park in one of the town centre’s car parks.

Datchet Village Hall Playground
Horton Road, Datchet SL3 9HR
Playground in a big open green space
Free car park on Green Lane

Langley Memorial Ground Playground
Langley Road, Langley SL3 8GW
Came here once with Lily, I think it was alright. Right by the shops in Langley. There’s a car park at the community centre, not sure if it’s free.

Riverside Gardens Sandpit Playground
Ray Mead Rd, Maidenhead SL6 8NS
Sandpit playground with crazy golf and a cafe next to it. Car park with fees on site. More photos here.

Emma Sallis Adventure Playground
Black Park Rd, Slough SL3 6DS
Beautiful playground with wooden equipment in the middle of the woods, by the cafe in Black Park. More photos here. Car park with fees. *Be aware that Black Park has been very busy during lockdown, with people travelling here, almost like a tourist destination. The same for Langley Park and it’s playground. I would personally avoid during the pandemic.

Denham Country Park Playground
Denham Court Drive, Denham UB9 5PG
Okay this is a bit further out but one to save for the future. Playground in a picturesque location with a sandpit and a nearby paddling beach and cafe. Car Park with fees. More photos here

That’s a fab round up. A few for us to try. James is keen to go back to Upton Park as that climbing frame/course is very challenging.
We often end up at Ockwells Park in Maidenhead because it’s close to the motorway and so are we and because they have a cafe and do junior parkrun in more normal times.

Yes it is, I know I wouldn’t be able to do it lol. We’ve never tried Ockwells, one to check out in the future, thanks!
